Top Design Trends for Spring 2017

One of our favorite things about welcoming a new season is exploring the new design trends that start to pop up! Our customers are always approaching us with their creative visions and new design challenges, so it’s important for us to stay on top of current industry trends to make sure we can bring their design ideas to life. With spring in the air, we’ve compiled a list of our top design trends for Spring 2017.

1. Incorporating Nature’s Palette:

This spring, we can expect to see many designers trade in shiny, polished metals like rose gold and copper, for more natural tones that create a rustic, warm feel. The use of muted blues, beige-pinks, terracotta and mustard is set to replace the currently popular cool and white tones. The introduction of this color palette is supported by the growing themes of sustainability, simplicity, and connecting with nature. Whether used as accent pieces, or an entire feature wall, this palette is sure to add character and warmth to any space.

2. 50 shades of "Greenery":

As we trend toward a more natural color palette in 2017, it seems obvious to include the most common color found in nature – green! This trend started with Pantone naming “Greenery” as their 2017 color of the year, a color they describe as “a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore, and renew.” This color was selected based on Pantone’s examination of current cultural events and popular colors used across industries worldwide. During Fashion Week this past September, Greenery was a popular choice among high-end designers when showing their spring collections. Pantone attributes Greenery’s popularity to the desire for “a return to nature”, signaling consumers to pause and take a deep breath amidst our busy, technology-filled, urban lifestyles.

3. Go “Faux”:

In 2017, “faux” is fashionable again, as many designers are turning to materials that mimic natural materials, but offer a cost-effective and longer-lasting alternative to the real thing. Goldray Glass noted this trend when developing our newest line of decorative glass products, Goldray Naturals. Our Goldray Naturals line transforms delicate natural materials like wood, stone and rice paper into easily cleanable, durable glass products. With both standard and custom options to choose from, these products offer enhanced design flexibility and can be easily incorporated within any interior space, for a natural look that will stand the test of time.

4. More Marble:

In 2016, marble and marble print were everywhere – from home décor items, stationary, bedding, and even luggage! This is one of our favorite trends, and we’re happy to report that it isn’t going anywhere in 2017. One of the hottest marble trends this spring will be marble wall coverings like wall paper and wall cladding. We love this, as our Goldray Naturals line features a stunning white marble print that is perfect for achieving that one-of-a-kind marble look, with glass!
